Case Study

The case study of the parking lot layout examines the possibilities of designing the parking area given the following parameters: Outline of the parking lot, dimension of the parking space and width of the corridor. Based on these input parameters, the script arranges the parking spaces around the perimeter of the parking area, creates a perimeter corridor and arranges the parking spaces in rows inside. The inner rows are always parallel to one of the four sides of the parking lot outline. Two seeds are included in the script, one controls the displacement of the parking spaces around the perimeter, the other controls the orientation of the inner rows. The script can also be used in Generative Design to find the most optimal solution. The output of the script is the number of parking spaces that you can maximize using generative design.

The package for this study includes a Revit project, a Dynamo script, and a dependencies folder for running the script in Generative design. The script is created for Revit version 2024 and Dynamo 2.19. It does not contain any external packages.
